PPSMI: IS IT STILL RELEVANCE
The issue on PPSMI has hit us a few times since 2 years ago. Currently, thousands of people who realize that this PPSMI will just discriminate and burdened our school students have gathered to demonstrate and showed their dissatisfaction. This shows that the implementation of PPSMI is done in a rush and hush way without a well-prepared plan. the question is, why is it still implemented by the ministry? it's not effective at all and it discriminated the students in the rural area. As an example, a children in my village who is very good in science and mathematics when it is taught in Malay language before, experience a heavy drop in his science and mathematic result when it is taught in English. Their excuses is by teaching science and math in English, the students proficiency in English will improved. This is not true at all. There is another way if we want to improve our students proficiency in English. The English syllabus must be improved, other features of English must be included. That is the right way to improve our students in English. Another excuse they use is they afraid students who study science and math in Malay cannot cope with their courses when they are in university and the syllabus in the university is taught in English. This is another bullshit excuse. My friends and i are the one who study science and math in Malay. But still, my friends who now in the university and taking science subject, still succeed even though their language base for learning science and math is not English.
